SWANSEA GHOST STORIES

YOUR STORIES

Inspired by the chilling goings-on in Swansea’s Grand Theatre - where it is said the ghost of the Madame Adelina Patti still wanders - we are looking for more stories of the strange goings on around our city.

Have you seen something spooky? Do you know of an old Swansea tale passed down through time? Maybe you’re not a believer and just love a good ghost story?

We want to hear from you!

Send your stories by email, social media or using this form. We welcome stories in writing, as a video or voice note, in English, Welsh, or BSL.

We will be selecting the stories that have the most potential to be adapted for theatre, and handing them over to our team of writers, who will bravely endeavour to bring these spooky stories to life on stage. The selected stories will be given a scratch performance in August 2024.

We will also be offering a free writers masterclass workshop to anyone who submits a story. So, even if your story isn’t selected to be adapted, there’s an opportunity to be had. Check out our writers below.

Submit before 15th July 2024.

This project is a collaboration with Grand Ambition

Grand Ambition is a new and exciting creative collective based at Swansea Grand Theatre. We tell Swansea stories, sharing the stories on which the city is built & upon which it will flourish. Stories of ambitions, dreams & communities, stories that historically haven’t made it onto our stages. By increasing representation, we improve access & raise ambition – if you can’t see it, you can’t be it.

Resident at Swansea Grand Theatre/Brangwyn Hall; we nurture & retain diverse creative talent, telling stories that matter to Swansea people. Our production Sorter received 4 & 5 star reviews, was in the Stage Top 50 plays & nominated at their Debut Awards. We’re responsible for outreach & engagement; building a broad spectrum of stakeholders developing audiences & talent for the future.

Grand Ambition is a collaboration with Swansea Council and Swansea based professional artists - Richard Mylan, Steve Balsamo, Michelle McTernan and Christian Patterson.

This project is made possible thanks to the generous support of the Arts Council of Wales, National Lottery, Welsh Government and the Carne Trust, and the Swansea Grand Theatre:

Grand Ambitions are supported by Swansea Council, the Swansea Grand Theatre and the UK Governments Levelling Up Fund.
